Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link} While you are in safe mode;

Type about:preferences<Enter> in the address bar

Select Advanced > General. Look for and turn off Use Hardware Acceleration.

Poke around safe web sites. Are there any problems?

Then restart.

When I move into safe mode on FF and close it the browser, FF remains working in the background and insists that I reboot my computer, something that has been happening for quite a while now.

I have disabled Shockwave flash 15 from the add on manager. So far it seems to be working.

Thanks.

The Data Exclusion process and the Shockwave application continues to freeze up Firefox. I've tried 'alternate' players, but FF only recognizes Shockwave (Adobe 15.0.0.152). Same old problem.

I've used Google Chrome, with Adobe imbedded, which works fine, though I'm not thrilled with it.

I've done the uninstall and reinstall, as well.

How do I get to Norton's firewall choices?

What Norton do you have?

Norton 360 Open main panel. Select Security, then Manage Firewall.

The Norton firewall allows Flashplayer. Still, when I activate Shockwave in the add-ons, the Adobe 15 DEP goes off again, over and over.

Read these instructions. BUT substitute Flash for Firefox.

Some problems occurs when your Internet security program was set to trust the previous version of Firefox, but no longer recognizes your updated version as trusted. Now how to fix the problem: To allow Firefox to connect to the Internet again;

  • Make sure your Internet security software is up-to-date (i.e. you are running the latest version).
  • Remove Firefox from your program's list of trusted or recognized programs. For detailed instructions, see

Configure firewalls so that Firefox can access the Internet. {web link}

Thanks, I'll work on it. I really appreciate your help on this.
