Web site of my PVR sat recorder, offers me possibility of streaming chosen channel to my PC using VLC. It works, but when I click to "VLC stream" icon, Firefox wants to download file named vlc.m3u (no possibility to chane it). And I can open such file manually using VLC. All I need is to add new action to "Application" menu of Firefox (ver 24) in that way that clicking and downloading such named file, automatically starts VLC with downloaded file as a startup parameter. Is it possible?

With which content type does the server send this file?

You can use this extension if Firefox doesn't show it in the dialog and the Web Console (Firefox/Tools > Web Developer;Ctrl+Shift+K) doesn't help either.

Setting a specific action usually only works if the content (MIME) type of this file is correct.

You can also check on the about:plugins page if this file extension and MIME type is supported by the plugin.

I try to add action as describe in links above but still the only thing FF offers me is to download file. This file is ordinary m3u playlist accepted by VLC. The only thing is that name of this file is always vlc.m3u I want FF not to download such file for saving, but open this file in vlc window. At this moment, FF does not offer me any possibility to chose associated application, i can only download file or not. I use FF 24 Libux version 64 bit.
