Why so many updates so frequently?

I'm trying to understand why Firefox is updated so frequently at random intervals? Let me summarize:

Security hole fixed - I need this - good reason to update version from 15 minutes ago Some geek wanted to check in a bunch of code for some random pet project that will break Selenium for no good reason - I TOTALLY DO NOT NEED THIS - EVER!

It is extremely irritating that Mozilla is starting to act like some brainless zombie. The answer to every question is "Update Firefox!" The subtext is "Because we're so clever!" No, you're not. That is what Google employees think as well and they are wrong, too.

I run a small team that tests software that makes millions of dollars for my employer. We are nimble, we are quick, and we don't have time to have our Selenium suites break every 3 days.

1) In short, don't treat us like idiots. We love Firefox. We really do. Why would you want to ruin this? 2) Release software on a schedule like adults. If I know Firefox will break everything each Friday that would be better than the current state. Its' working fine! Just kidding! Made you look! Sucker! 3) When I set Firefox to not update, um, don't update me? Ever? Even if I haven't updated in ten thousand years don't update me. I will take responsibility for what happens. Honest!

You can use a Long Term Release (aka ESR), but that is aimed at Enterprise users, and is not supported on this forum.

ESR brings ONLY security updates for one version till the next year, the current ESR based at v24 will last a year with security updates that the regular, updated firefox gets.
