computer runs very slow,keep getting window stating flash player has a script running. How to fix

the window asks do you want to abort the script and you can not do ANYTHING until you respond. this is happening repeatedly and will not stop whether the script is aborted or not. computer is excruciatingly slow, sometimes only restarting is helps minimally
