Firefox crashes upon Startup; no extensions, brand new profile

Even after a clean install (removing all previous profile settings and extensions/plug-ins), Firefox 7.0.1 still will not run as per it's normal operating characteristics.

Immediately after double-clicking on the icon, the Crash Reporter states a crash has occured. Alternatively, safe-mode will not start successfully either.

Any ideas?

Seems this is related to some Oracle software. The last posts in this thread have workarounds that can be used until Oracle can fix the problem https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/questions/880625
