I am not happy with the changes in Firefox 4+ versions.

Why do you keep focusing on HTML5 and CSS3 and browser speed improvements only? Firefox 4+ [5,6] crashes randomly! And what about the memory leaks? What about all of your users who want you to go back to the 3.5 setup? What about focusing on improving on what we liked instead of degrading your browsers like so? This used to be my favorite browser but now it crashes so often and the interface is so ugly and then there are the memory leak problems. I am pretty sure I am not the only one disgruntled by your browsers now. I am leaving and so will many others.

And oh yeah not to mention the random hangs from plugin integrations [Flash, JAVA AND now ADOBE]

Chrome doesn't have these noobish problems.

I feel your pain. Version 6 is not ready for prime time, i don't care what they say. I'm running Windows 7, and version 5.1 works flawlessly and FAST. I'm never going to go to 6. i don't trust it. Hung my whole computer out to dry.

I agree. I always upgraded when a new version came out, but refuse to upgrade to 4+ versions as they come out too quickly. I am still using 3.6, and I hope mozilla goes back to releasing a major version once a year, as it was with 2.0 and 3.0. It's really crazy to expect us to upgrade firefox every month!!! Also none of my addons for 3.6 work with 4+ versions (as the addon specifies that it works with 3.x and is disabled when run on 4+ version)

e.g. http://pragcraft.wordpress.com/2011/06/18/update-to-checkfox/ will not work on firefox 5+ versions (although 4,5,6 are very similar!!! why couldnt you name them 4.0,4.1,4.2 ????

@FAQUFIREFOX

-> press CTRL + ALT + DEL keys to open Task Manager -> Processes tab -> right-click firefox.exe and click End Process Tree -> close Task Manager

-> Start Firefox in Safe Mode by holding down SHIFT key while starting Firefox

  • As an alternative method, select "Start -> Run" and enter one of the following in the Windows Run box:
    • firefox -safe-mode
    • "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" -safe-mode

-> Firefox Safe Mode window will appear -> DON'T SELECT ANY OPTIONS, just click Continue in Safe Mode

I agree where are the old versions at? I want to go back, I use Firefox for web apps and lets me down daily, just crashes. We need fixes not more features.

@alvanet Always provide your Full System Details, Explanation of the problems you are facing and the Solutions you have already tried to solve your problem.

Starting with the release of Firefox 6, the previous versions of Firefox (4.0.x and 5.0.x) are no longer maintained with Security and Stability updates. Firefox 3.6 is the last previous Firefox version that is still being maintained.

Firefox versions 4.0.x 5.0.x contain Security vulnerabilities that are known and could be exploited by some websites to gain unauthorized access to information or to disrupt critical processing. Only the Latest version 6.0 and an Older version 3.6 of Firefox are secure against these known vulnerabilities.

Tell what you want to do.
