Logon to http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html and search for Firefox, there on the left you sould see a list of all the previous version. Select the latest version of firefox 3.6 (3.6.16) and download it.
To revert back simply double click the install file for 3.6 and install it, it should revert you back whilst keep your profile intact, at least it did for me.
