Why when attempting to attach a file the browse window closes?

When clicking the paper clip to attach a file to the email, a window opens for you to browse for the file, but suddenly closes until you click the paperclip again. Why?

Does it happen in Safe mode as well? If not, choose to 'disable all addons' in the safemode dialog, save changes and restart, enable them one by one until you find the culprit.
