printer does not respond when I want to print from a website-why?

I have a Brother HL2040 printer. Since loading latest version of Firefox on my new laptop I have not been able to print web pages with information that I need (e.g., confirmations of memberships, airline bookings etc.) I can, however, print adobe page links in websites.
