Importing bookmark backup causes crash on exit with clean install

I am getting a crash on exit with Firefox 3.6.3. I disabled all addons, removed all themes, even re-installed Firefox. Everything works fine until I import my saved bookmarks backup - and then the crash on exit comes right back.

Are you importing from an HTML file, JSON file, or copying over the places.sqlite file?

JSON file - i did a back up of my bookmarks to the desktop before i uninstalled.
