Ads now EVERYWHERE - cannot access content
Anyone know what is happening? In the past month or so trying to view websites on iPhone, even on Firefox has become impossible.
The number and size of ads has metastasized to the point they block out all content. Is this a new trend? Is it my settings?
Who is responsible for this shift — the website ad settings or the browsers? Is it Google further breaking the internet?
For the neurodiverse, it’s an accessibility issue as well as a dystopian nightmare.
Please tell me there’s a way to fight this apart from permanent reader mode. This has vastly reduced our use of the internet. Each site feels like a trap and a scam.
The ads cause anxiety as well as irritation and general thwartedness as I cannot reach the content! What are these people/bots thinking?
Thanks

Yeah these ads have a Google icon next to it so that's where it comes from. But realistically it's not Google — it's the sites you patron monetizing the visits to the max and shove the most obnoxious ad formats in everyone's face to maximize earnings.
Yes, I immediately turn to reader mode for these sites.
You might have some success tightening up tracking protections in the settings, going from Standard to Strict, which may remove some extra ad networks (implications explained on that setting card).
