How to switch from rapid release channel to ESR channel, Win10 Pro ESU

opti1

I currently have Firefox 149.0.2 rapid release channel on Win10 Pro ESU.

I want to switch to the ESR channel.

How do I do that?

Is there anything I should be aware of to avoid problems?

Thanks!

ESR is short for Extended Support Release and is meant more for Enterprise users in mind and not so much for regular Firefox users. Enterprise users like to have longer term stability with just security/stability updates when managing a large number of systems.

An issue with using the Firefox 140 ESR (currently at Fx 140.10.2) is the last planned update is Fx 140.14.0esr on Sept 15, 1016 which is when Fx 154.0 will be released alongside Fx 153.1.0esr.

The next ESR will be based on the Fx 153.0 Release out on July 21.

That said — to avoid actually having to "downgrade" to 140esr… I'd suggest waiting the month or two until 153esr is out — and moving to it from your 152.x release at that point for the smoothest transition.
