1. Make sure that your trash is NOT emptied on exit while this is resolved. 2. Have you tried copying them into a folder? Or moving a single email?
Trash set to not emptied on exit I can move deleted items (in batch or singly) to a sub folder of inbox but not to inbox itself - thye just jump back to the bin
