Why, with not very many active open windows, and just after opening, is FF using 175% of my CPU, not counting all the separate listings in my Activity Monitor. Plus it's using nearly all 16 GBs of my RAM. With every new update, I pray it will mean the browser will just work, and not use up all my computer's resources, but it just never does. Pretty soon, more & more of us will just give up on this browser, which used to work better, years ago, and has only gone downhill since.

Check what's eating your CPU in about:processes. I guess that some extension is malfunctioning.

Also check about:support -> Graphics -> is Composing == 'Webrender' or 'Webrender (Software)'?

This is a mess! I've updated to the "latest update", and it's already run up big time as far as CPU usage, and while I was looking at a website, it just tried to refresh itself, on its own, and then could only load the top 1/4 of the page!! What is wrong with whoever builds these browsers, as it can't even do the basics, without sucking up RAM, and even freezing up, etc.

I haven't rebooted my laptop at work in weeks and it sits at 16 out of 32GBs ram used with all my needed apps open. Yeah... 16GBs is not enough now days.

Well, as far as I know, 16 is the max I can use, as I agree, it's not enough. In fact, I wonder why Apple even today, sells laptops with only 8GBs! That's not near enough... But still, I have hardly any apps open, while a friend has a similar laptop, yet does lots of music recording with it, and it still works. I'd be afraid to use this for that.

I have seen posts by users with 32GiB of RAM who have problems. I have random issues and they started late October 2021 without any update.

You can create a new profile as a quick test to see if your current profile is causing the problem.

See "Creating a profile":

If the new profile works then you can transfer files from a previously used profile to the new profile, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over problems.

How would I know, when transferring files to the new profile, which ones are corrupt? If I could tell which ones are corrupt, then I could've just deleted those, in the first place, no?
