I get to the point where I am supposed to brows to the location of the .csv file containing the addresses I want to Import. I browse to the folder where the .csv file is but it's not there. In fact Thunderbird sees no files at all in the folder, but I know they are there because I can see them with the file viewer/manager. It says that .csv files are supported, so why is Thunderbird not seeing the file? Is this a bug I should report?

Thanks for any suggestions

Did you do this:

In Thunderbird

  • Select 'Address Books'
  • Select 'Tools' > 'Import'
  • Select 'Address Books' and click on 'Next'
  • Select 'Text file (LDIF, .tab, .csv, .txt) and click on 'Next'
  • Locate folder storing .csv file

At this point you seem to have the issue......

When it brings up the screen to select your address book file, at the bottom right of the screen, far from anything else, in possibly small letters, you might see LDIF next to an arrow, choose comma selected csv. When you do that, your csv files should appear. Select the correct one and click on 'Open'.

You might then need to map the fields in the .csv file with those fields used by Thunderbird.
