How do I stop e-mails I send from having strange symbols embedded when received by recipients?

e-mails I send have strange symbols embedded between words and at the beginning and end of sentences when received by recipients.

Tools/Options/Advanced/General/Config. editor, double-click mail.strictly_mime to switch it to true.
