Firefox bookmarks totally scrambled

The latest Firefox (I can't track the version anymore) totally scrambles the bookmarks.

This is annoying.

I have more devices that have sync set up, when I start Firefox on another device, on the desktop computer, the bookmarks get randomly scrambled, all kind of separators do appear.

What happened? It's clearly a bug, many users reported this...

Such issues can be caused by using Sync to sync the bookmarks.

You can check for problems with the places.sqlite database (bookmarks and history) in the Firefox profile folder.

You can try to restore the bookmarks from an older backup in the bookmarkbackups folder.

If you use Sync then best is to disconnect Sync while performing maintenance/repair efforts to files in the Firefox profile folder. If you want to use Sync then best is to connect one device at the time for the initial sync to upload the bookmarks to the Sync server.
