If the page is saved for reading with no internet connection then it must be stored on my machine and no account is needed for access. How is it different than "Save Page as"?

Likewise, access for future reading with an internet connection can be accomplished with a bookmark. Is pocket use being tracked to "enhance my experience"? We all know that enhancing my experience is a euphemism for directed advertising.

Hello,

Pocket allows you to save articles and video's so you can read them later on any device (computer, phone, tablet, ...). It's different to a bookmark because it allows you to easily access all your saved stuff from different devices and because it will save your stuff so you can read it even if the original web page no longer exists. For all this to work, you need to sign in. More info about Pocket can be found on Pocket's website.

Of course, you don't have to use Pocket, you can continue to save or bookmark pages.
