Outlook, Groupwise and Pegasus(freeware) allows editing of received e-mails. Thunderbird had plug-in that is not working with curent version. WHY NOT make it standard feature of Thunderbird??? Please do it. If others can do it, why cannot Thunderbird not do it?

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/thunderbird/addon/edit-email-subject/ works!! Unfortunately when I installed TB it said that header editor for 3.1 does not work two days ago (22/3/2015)
