Changes in Firefox 23 - not for the better
I just got Firefox 23, and found there is no more Enable Javascript checkbox in the Content area of Preferences and there is no more ability to prevent changes to the functioning of the context menu and prevent the changing of the size or position of the window. I really do not understand why certain settings to control what may be done by web page code to the browser are being gutted out. Presumably it means that any smartass who can write a web page can force my browser window to be whatever size he wants it to be. That used to drive me crazy in the past, and it will do the same thing again. Is there any way to make a capability policy that could stop the resizing of the window? I just found out that I can still use the context menu if I use Shift-right-click. Why the change?
Autohiding the tab bar does not work any more. I thought the big argument for trying to put tabs on top and into the title bar was to save space? Forcing the tab bar to be visible all the time will certainly not save space, so why do it?
My bookmark menu was removed from the bookmarks toolbar. I tried to find a button that would put it back, and there are two bookmarks buttons in the customize window. Are the developers trying to make things harder, or what?

you can easily hide your Tab bar with https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/firefox/addon/hide-tab-bar-with-one-tab/, restore the ability to disable Javascript with https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/settingsanity/ (among other add-ons)

I believe that the Location bar is where search engines will be in the future. "Selected" by a dropdown menu type button or by a new keyword pref, is my guess. The developers need to come up with a new "keyword" pref which can't be changed as easily as the keyword.URL pref was changed.
As far as "newsgroup messages and forum messages from people saying that they have switched or are going to switch to Opera, SeaMonkey, PaleMoon, Safari, or Internet Explorer or some clone of it."
Hearsay, as Perry Mason would say to the judge. Chronic whiners have been spouting that type of drivel for years, and they either don't leave Firefox or they come back sooner or later. Usage statistics showing that Firefox is actually losing users is the only acceptable gauge, IMO.

Lets say in summary, Mozilla is killing Firefox, by removing things that supposedly "improve firefox" and i quote that. I am just posting workarounds though (searmonkey, other browsers, addons).
Soon, the UI will only be 1/2 way customizeable, the tabs will look ratchet, and in another summary, Google Chrome.

but I am not sure m/any fora welcome complaints about a decision that has already been taken and implemented.
This site is intended to deal with single user support issues, NOT to discuss development decisions and issues. Developers do not normally access this site. Complaining here is pointless. We are only (mostly) volunteers and users trying to help one another.
Personally I find the changes irritating and unnecessary, but I can see that they are best when considering the majority of users, and so I accept it is a correct decision.
