This is a new feature. It is intended that when you open a new page instead of it being blank it has the thumbnail pictures on it that you may use as links for opening pages that you frequently use. The page content may be customised.

It is easy to toggle the feature on or off, click the little grey grid icon top right.

The feature can be disabled more permanently if you prefer. Also note if you use private browsing mode the pages then viewed will not be put on a new tab as a thumbnail.

I have the same problem except that I want the small windows, but can not find it here "It is easy to switch the function on or off, click the little gray grid icon at the top right". Then I can possibly get printscreen of where it should be ...

What is the value of the browser.newtab.url pref on the about:config page?

Try to reset some preferences to the default with the SearchReset extension:

• https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/searchreset/

Note that the SearchReset extension only runs once and then uninstalls automatically, so it won't show on the "Firefox > Add-ons" page (about:addons).

Type about:config in the location (address) bar and press the "Enter" key to open the about:config page, just like you open a website by typing the URL in the location bar.

• if you see a warning message then you can confirm that you want to access the about:config page.

• use the Search bar at the top of the about:config page to locate preferences more easily
• preferences that have been modified and do not have the default value show as bold (user set)
• preferences that are user set (bold) can be reset to the default value via the right-click context menu
• preferences can be changed via the right-click context menu: Modify (String or Integer) or Toggle (Boolean) or by double-clicking the line with the pref

Can you help me with another thing... I have in tools and settings, set my home page to start on google, but it starts with a page called http://www.searchnu.com/102?tag=newtab and I have deleted it many times now

That may also be complicated to fix as we've seen this issue quite a few times.
