Reinstalling Firefox won't do anything to your bookmarks. There's also a pretty good chance that won't fix your problem either.
You should follow the steps in Troubleshoot Firefox crashes (closing or quitting unexpectedly). If Firefox still crashes in safe mode there are instructions there for getting a crash report ID and a link to submit here so we can help figure out what the problem is.
Verdi, Because of Firefoxes immediate crash after clicking on the shortcut, I am unable to get to safe mode or any other suggested remedies that requrie Fio refox to be running.
Thanks for your prompt reply,
John

* You can't open Firefox because it crashes at startup even in Safe Mode:
1. Click the Windows Start button, and select Run... on Windows 2000/XP or press Windows Key + R on Windows Vista/7. Type in "%APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Crash Reports\submitted" including the quotation marks and click OK.In the finder go to ~/Library/Application Support/Firefox/Crash Reports/submitted.Go to ~/.mozilla/firefox/Crash Reports/submitted. 2. In the resulting folder will be a text file for each crash report you have submitted. Using the View menu, arrange them by date to find out which is the newest file; and double-click on it to open it.

Sorry, I don't read anything that stands out as causing that crash. Please provide additional crash report ID's.

Appears it might be caused by Firebug.
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=689118
Looks like it is fixed for Firefox 10+ versions.
With not being able to open the Firefox SafeMode and be able to disable Firebug, the only thing that I can think of it to locate Firebug in the \extensions\ folder in your Profile and delete the Firebug folder.
Maybe someone else will have a better idea.

Were able to retain your bookmarks? If so, was it automatic? If not what did you have to do to keep the bookmarks?
Thanks,
