Why does the video clip keep stopping and starting over and over?

Example: I was watching Yahoo TV, Primetime show. The video clips would start running then pause and start up again several seconds later, then it would do it again. I have had the same experience on U tube but not as bad. Is it with my hardware or software setup ?

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

This can be a problem with session restore.
Firefox stores session data every 10 seconds to make it possible to restore a crashed session.
If you have (security) software that interferes with that or have many tabs open then that cause cause a delay.
You can try to increase the session store saving interval to see if that has any effect on the freezes.
