Do I need to delete Explorer8 and will this rendor some applications unuseable? (e.g. Google SketchUp)

When I open SketchUp8, the 'welcome' window has link to 'Tutorials'. I get a second window: "This action cannot be completed because the other program is busy. . . ". Options are 'Switch to' or 'Retry' - neither of which works. The only exit is to got to 'start using sketchup'. I have considered deleting Explorer but the warning that some applications may be rendered useless is ominous.

Do not uninstall Internet Explorer, it is required by some programs.
