does not ask to save logon and passwords

using firefox 66 I can not check the box to have firefox ask to save password. had same problem a few weeks ago and solve, but windows did update and now i cannot check that box again. this time if i get the answer i am going to write it down in case windows does it's thing again. thank you for your help in advance Allen

This can happen if you run Firefox in permanent Private Browsing mode (Always use Private Browsing mode; Never Remember History).

  • Options/Preferences -> Privacy & Security
    Firefox will: "Use custom settings for history"
  • remove checkmark: [ ] "Always use Private Browsing mode"
