how do I get rid of the find bar at the bottom?
How do I get rid of the find bar at the bottom? Everytime I type after one or two letters it goes to the find bar instead of where I want it. This is starting to be a huge problem for me as I love firefox and have used it for years but this is painful when shopping, etc.
I have started in safe mode, changed my settings and am using the default appearance. Nothing so far has solved this issue. I just want the bar gone permanently!

Wow, that shouldn't happen. Normally that bar would only appear if you press Ctrl+f, or in some cases Ctrl+g or the F3 function key.
There used to be a checkbox on the Options page for the "find as you type" feature, which could trigger the bar more easily. I'll have to ask you to check that a different way now:
(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter/Return. Click the button promising to be careful or accepting the risk.
(2) In the search box above the list, type or paste find and pause while the list is filtered
(3) If the accessibility.typeaheadfind preference is bolded and "modified" or "user set" to true, double-click it to restore the default value of false
