Why are some pdf attachments not displayed as attached to an email, and yet they are there in a mirrored gmail account?
Can you please explain why some pdf attachments are visible on some emails that arrive in the inbox, and yet other emails which are supposed to have pdf attachments do not seem to have the attachment present. A backup gmail account which contains the exact emails does however show all attachments and when I forward the email the attachment then appears. Any guesses?

my guess is you anti virus program messing it's scanning job and removing the PDF files, or someone using a poorly configured copy of Microsoft Outlook sending you winmail.dat files which are a proprietary Microsoft attachment format really meant to stay in the corporate environment where the exchange server resides.
Hi Matt Thanks for getting back. I have uninstalled the antivirus software, but the problem is still occurring. I would say it happens with about 1/4 of the attachments we are meant to receive. The weird thing is that we have a laptop with Thunderbird and pdf's get through to that. I got a customer to resend an email after removing the antivirus, it contained both a png and pdf attachment, neither showed in the email when it arrived.
I may have a further clue. Pdf's that are not appearing in emails all appear to have been sent from apple mail. Any further ideas how to resolve?
following some stuff on another thread, are you viewing ALL the emails on original HTML? View Menu > message body as
On the other thread it became apparent that apple encode their emails in a weird way and only if you view them in original HTML will you see any attachments.
