Hangs several mins during input, zero CPU usage, tried FAQ suggestions-no help

Only with the latest version (39.0.3) FF hangs during input keystrokes, recovers after a few minutes. Task Manager shows 0 to 1% CPU utilisation. Have tried the suggestions under FAQ but none seem to help, incl safe mode, places, sessionstore, reset. Causing an enormous waste of time trying to correct. Would like to return to a previous version if that's possible. Environment: Windows 7 home on Gigabyte GA-B85M-HD3 m/board with Intel G3240 CPU. Other Apps normally running: Thunderbird and ZoneAlarm Internet Security suite.

PS It has taken 15 mins to type this due to 3 times stopped responding !!

Firefox 40 was released today, why don't you update and see if that issue is corrected.
