Hi,

I'm using Firefox 155.0.1 64bits, in Linux Mint Debian Edition 7, x11, XFCE4. I have a Belgian keyboard. I have noticed that the dead keys aren't working any more when typing text / messages from within Firefox. I don't have this problem in other browsers or applications.

I used xev (x11 utility) to check if the dead keys were working and tested a different keyboard, all work. I tried to start Firefox in safe mode or by starting Firefox from a terminal with the following commands: - env GTK_IM_MODULE=xim firefox - env GTK_IM_MODULE=ibus firefox

But nothing worked. The dead keys aren't working. The issue must come from Firefox for it is not an hardware issue (tried different keyboards) nor software (dead keys work in other applications).

Any idea to fix this ?

After updating from Firefox 154 to 155.0 on Windows 11, the download progress indicator on the Windows taskbar icon no longer appears at all.

What I see: - While a download is in progress, only the circular progress on the in-window Downloads button is visible. - There is no progress bar/fill on the Firefox taskbar icon, even when the window is focused and the Downloads panel is open. - In Firefox 154 this taskbar progress worked. - Chrome on the same PC still shows download progress on the taskbar correctly.

I checked about:config for anything related to taskbar/download progress and found nothing that controls this.

Is the Windows taskbar download progress still expected to work in Firefox 155, or was it removed/changed? Has anyone else noticed this?

Thanks.

My font on some sites is being forced to this horrible condensed font and it's seemingly nothing to do with my font settings in browser. Thing is, I VAGUELY remember changing a setting SOMEWHERE to actually do this, but it's not the main font setting in accessibility. Furthermore this issue has only started happening in the last day or two and my vague memory of setting my font somewhere was years ago.

Is there any other setting in Firefox that affects default font for certain sites?

Hey! Hope you're all doing well. This is a request more than a question. Is it possible to include a short notes field in the stored passwords area? Often, the login address for a service/website/account is completely different than the name the the business service/website/account name. And if a user can't remember what the sign-up login link is called, it can be an enormous pain in the memory banks to try to remember what it is or think of a way to find the info.

Is it possible to add a field for notes where users can note details like that? Or does that introduce safety risks?

I just thought I'd put that out there, cause there's nothing more frustrating (maybe) than having to stop when you're on a roll to reconstruct how you access an account. On top of having to send out 2nd verifications to all our devices, set up special all access pins, etc.

Honestly, its getting crazy out here with all the steps it takes into to log into our digital worlds. That one little step, would make accessing our digital lives a sliver more simple. At least for me. I have no idea if anyone else feels this way.

That's my 22-cents (inflation). Hopefully this will make its way into your suggestion box. Thanks!

I've been relying on backup/recovery from backup because firefox now deletes my profile/session every time it does a meaningful update (several times a month).

Now, one stupid/broken thing is that I have to re-enable backup every time I restore my profile/session (this setting, backup ON, should be included in the profile/session!).

The second broken thing is that now I can't re-enable backup today, after yesterday's update.

I can fakely turn backup ON, but when I click "backup now", I always get "Hmm, there was a problem backing up. Learn more"

Learn more has no useful information. Waiting a few minutes, like it suggests, does nothing. Now, I'm going to get my profile deleted the next time firefox updates, and I won't even be able to restore from backup.

Finally, whoever's in charge of this feature needs to learn English. Log in is a verb, login is a noun and an adjective. Similarly, back up is a verb, backup is a noun and and adjective. You can't "backup" your profile. You BACK UP your profile. A backup is a noun. You can't do nouns. You do verbs. I back up my profile. I back up (verb) the backup (noun) in a backup (adjective) file.

Sometime in the last week or two, every page starts with a banner that says "you must sign in to the internet to continue". I'm already/always signed in. On those few occasions when I click on the network login link (rather than clicking X to dismiss this dangerous and wrong banner), it shows a very dangerous site and says that site is prohibited. (As it should be.) So why is the banner demanding that I log in (forcing me to click X to dismiss it)? This feels like your site has been compromised, that some malicious actor is forcing this prompt on every page. (And even after I click X to dismiss it, it reappears 10-15 minutes later.

Hi, I've accidentally created a new profile and I totally didn't know what was happening as I've had this internet browser setup for years and didn't even remember creating a profile. That's why I ended up deleting all profiles thinking that's how to get things back to how they were but now everything is gone, years worth of saved bookmarks, passwords etc. It only happened recently and I have not restarted my laptop, not emptied the bin folder etc. Is there any way to recover my profile? I'm on a Mac.

The Firefox Browser crashed three four times last week. Mozzila Support team after study, gave a comment that RAM capacity is Low( 4 GB in my case , laptop). Does it sound OK? Why it does not happen with Chrome or Microsoft One edge Browser? I asked this to Google Gemini. The answer is as given below: Yes, the Mozilla Support team’s explanation sounds entirely accurate.A capacity of 4 GB RAM is extremely low for a modern laptop running an operating system like Windows 10 or 11 alongside modern web applications. The operating system itself routinely consumes 2 GB to 2.5 GB of RAM just to keep your computer running, leaving very little leftover memory for heavy multitasking. Both Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge use built-in "efficiency modes" and aggressive tab-sleeping algorithms. When your computer begins running out of RAM, Chrome and Edge will silently put inactive tabs to "sleep" to free up memory before the browser crashes. [1] (https://www.superchargebrowser.com/library/firefox-vs-chrome-ram-usage-2026/) Good Solutions to Fix the Crashes- 1. Software Adjustments (Free & Immediate)If you want to keep using Firefox smoothly on 4 GB of RAM, you need to minimize its memory footprint:Reduce Firefox's Content Process Limit: By default, Firefox uses multiple processes for performance. You can lower this to restrict its memory use:Type about:config in the Firefox address bar and press Enter.Accept the warning.Search for dom.ipc.processCount.Double-click it and change the value to 1 or 2. This forces Firefox to use fewer system resources. [1] (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Firefox)Enable Memory Minimization: If the browser starts slowing down, type about:memory in the address bar and click the Minimize memory usage button under the Free memory section.Use a Tab Suspender Extension: Install a lightweight add-on like Auto Tab Discard from the Firefox Add-ons store. It mimics Chrome's behavior by automatically putting background tabs to sleep.Turn Off Hardware Acceleration: Sometimes, your computer's integrated graphics conflict with Firefox under low memory conditions. Go to Firefox Settings > type "hardware" in the search box > uncheck Use recommended performance settings > uncheck Use hardware acceleration when available. This Method I tried, but did not work-Firefox to use fewer system resources. Can you suggest how to reduce or minimize its memory footprint?

Hi,

I've recently discovered the free Mozilla Firefox VPN. I live in Canada and I use it in order to watch anime from a legal French site. However, a few days ago, the list of countries available when I click on « Select Location » was suddenly significantly reduced while I was watching an episode. Now, it only shows very few countries (South Africa, Germany, Argentina, Australia, the United States and Japan). France completely disappeared from the list. I tried to disconnect and reconnect from my account once, and it originally fixed the issue. But then I made the mistake of disconnecting and reconnecting it again (I don't remember why), and now the problem is back again, no matter what I do.

Could you please tell me what should I do in order to get the longer countries list back (and especially the French location)?

Thank you and have a nice day,
