We are getting a very weird display (text frame out of position) of emails in our charter.net account using Firefox. Only on our laptop and not in either Explorer or Chrome. Have updated all plug-ins but no luck. Also scanned (AVG) for viruses, rootkits, with no result. This seems to have started within the past week. Charter was not reporting any similar problems. Any ideas?

PS - This started on Firefox 9. I updated to 10 this morning with no effect on the problem. I have screen shots if anyone needs to see what this looks like.

Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.

"Clear the Cache":

  • Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Offline Storage (Cache): "Clear Now"

"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:

  • Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

Thank you, cor-el. I finally got to the bottom of the problem and of course it was ridiculously simple. The issue was in Charter's preferences menu, which offered html or plain text options for display. Not sure why, but when I switched to plain text, the problem went away. I appreciate your directions on clearing the cache and will probably work with that if I get other web display issues.
