bookmark sync / restore signing me out of firefox?

I am trying to restore my firefox bookmarks and passwords from a back up I saved. I am signed into firefox in my browser, I go to restore back up and firefox restars and my bookmarks appearm but I'm signed out of firefox. When I sign back in, my profiles and bookmarks disappear?

Restoring from backup is too buggy. It apparently creates a new profile, which causes this issue. Perhaps it would be better to report this as a bug.
