I tried to find the latest version of Thunderbird and the message said - Update could not be installed ( patch apply failed) What do I need to do?

If this was an attempt to update an existing release of thunderbird, I suggest downloading copy from https://www.thunderbird.net/en-US/thunderbird/all/ and install directly over the top of the existing version. With thunderbird not running.
