correcting words by capitalising incorrectly

For some time now, Thunderbird has been correcting words by capitalising them – incorrectly. For example, the words ‘Mir’, ‘Dem’ and ‘Du’ are always automatically capitalised, which is, firstly, nonsense and, secondly, annoying. I have already disabled ‘Spell check’ and ‘Spell check whilst typing’ – to no avail. ---deutsch--- Thunderbird korrigiert seit einiger Zeit Worte indem sie sie - falsch - groß schreibt. Zum Beispiel werden die Worte Mir Dem Du immer automatisch groß korrigiert, was erstens Unfug und zweitens lästig ist. Ich habe schon "Rechtschreibkorrektur" und "Rechtschreibprüfung während der Eingabe" abgeschaltet - ohne Erfolg.

Thunderbird does not automatically capitalize anything. My guess is that you may be using an addon. Thunderbird does flag possible punctuation errors, but does not automatically correct them.

Do you want to say that when you type du Thunderbird's spellchecker capitalises it to Du ? Which German dictionary (deutsches Wörterbuch) did you install in Add-ons Manager > Dictionaries in your Thunderbird? I am using the "German Dictionary 2.1" and cannot reproduce your issue. Did you install "Grammatik- und Rechtschreibprüfung - LanguageTool" from this page https://addons.thunderbird.net/de/thunderbird/addon/grammar-and-spell-checker/ ?

Thank you David for the valuable info: "Thunderbird does not automatically capitalize anything" Indeed I found an addon "Text Insert: Templates/AutoUp/Typo-correct" (No idea why and where I got this) Switched off - everything OK. @Mapenzi: Yes I downloaded the current version as my first try. Tank you for the hint "Grammatik- und Rechtschreibprüfung..."

You're welcome. We are always glad to assist.
