Whenever i send a message , it is saved to the 'inbox' previously it would be saved "sent mail". I have verified that TB is configured to save to sent mail but the msg is saved anyway to inbox.

Can some one explain how to get back to saving sent messages to sent mail folder.

In all honesty I find it frustrating to keep moving msgs manually.

I don't want all the raw code included in my reply/forward, just the readable text in a format similar to the original. GMail handles this with no issues, so how can I get the same in Thunderbird? Thanks.

In Thunderbird on my Mac there appears to be no way of restoring alphabetical order to Folders.

All of my folders under A(and there are a lot of them) have dropped down a few alphabetical letters. There is supposed to be a right click on account name and restore this order, however, like many features on Thunderbird it does not exist now.

So a) why has Thunderbird on my Mac done this and how do I sort it out please?

My trash folder deletes my emails after just 30 days. I want to keep my deleted emails in the trash folder for ever (or almost), but I can't a way to change the period for keeping the emails.

So I have a list of folders some of which are the default folders some are custom created.

When I try to re-order these it is very hit or miss: I select a folder, drag it to where I want it to go, wait for the blue placement line to appear and it may or may not re-locate. Or I simply can't move the folder I want to move and so I move folders around it in order to achieve the layout I want.

It is as if success depends on whether Thunderbird is in the mood for a particular move to happen and I find it really frustrating. It should or shouldn't work, it shouldn't be that it works sometimes.

What is going on with this?

Been using outlook since 2000, I am tyrin to cut the umbilial cord to outlook as it is craper each year that passes.

Can i have more than 1 sig as i use maybe 10 different sigs for different reasons?

I see a use file do i get to choose a differt file when inserting sig or am i stuck with one and have to manualy change file or copy from somewhere else.

Once i get Thinder runnin i wil be happy to support on a monthly basis but i need to se if ti will suffice.

Using a new, clean install of Xubuntu 26.04, with thunderbird 140.10.2esr 64 bit, ubuntu snap build 1.0. In settings: play a sound when new message arrives, no sound is heard. When clicking "play" to test the sound, there is no sound. Also, if "use the following sound file" is checked, there is no sound when "play" is clicked. (I have tried various .wav and .mp3 files.) I have installed pipewire-alsa, but that didn't help. Any ideas?

I started setting up Thunderbird on May 8, after I got my new windows 11 computer. I added 6 of my most important email accounts (different providers). Today, I went through settings to make things better (I thought). Immediately after, all my email accounts (both current & previous messages started printing in plain text only. I tried to fix by going to view, message body as...simple text, restart, then back to original HTML. Then, restart again. All this to no avail. I am sure it is a setting because until today, all were in HTML.

I have had to buy a new desktop to get Windows 11.

I have installed Thunderbird, which I have used for many years, on the new computer. This version threads the incoming emails. I really hate my emails being threaded, it completely confuses me and prevents me doing what I have to do. I have not had this problem ever before. I have searched all the settings and not found any that will stop threading. Because the effect of threading seem permanent I now need all my emails reloaded to get rid of the effects threading.

I uninstalled Thunderbird and reinstalled hoping I could get a fresh start. I got the same old problem back again.

How can I get a version of Thunderbird that does not thread any of my emails ever?

And can I get all my existing emails re loaded?

I changed my signature file, which had my name, and now get "?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="yes"?"[etc.] How do I revise the file to have my name, telephone number, and email address? Thank you.

I have TB version 140.11.0esr (64-bit) running on Win 10. I have multiple accounts and each is set to check for new messages every 10 minutes (nothing else is ticked under "Server Settings). Everything is ticked under "When new message arrives" (and default sound is used).

When new messages were available to download, TB used to play alert sound (and I would know to download new messages) but now TB is sounding (the new messages) alert every time it checks for new messages even if there are NO new messages to download! How do I revert to the alert ONLY being sounded when there ARE new messages to download?

I find 'threading' useless and confusing. I want to turn it off for every message, everywhere. But the drop down menus with items about 'threading' seem locked. I cannot uncheck anything. Not just that the checks return when I re-open Thunderbird, but also the checks don't respond to keyboard input to disappear.

How can I get rid of this horrible attempt the software is making to think for me? It always gets things wrong.

When I try to move the icon to the taskbar, it doesn't appear.

As the topic says, the message list turned from the usual dark-mode look, to a full black background after updating to 151.0.

Was this an intentional change? How can I revert it?

Just what it says in the summary. I went to settings to check/change something, and found this new (I think) message in colour at the top of the page. I have no idea what it means, as I am not part of any organization. The statement is a link, and when I click on it, it takes me to the page shown in the image What if anything, does this mean? Do I need to do anything about it?.

I can't turn off 'threading' of messages. I hate that feature. I'll do my own damn 'threading'. Now the 'search' function is useless. Help me turn off 'threading' I run Thunderbird which I like, on my HP Windows 11 laptop.

"Threading" cannot be 'unchecked' in the dropdown menu.
