Do you mean:

  • When you click in a form field and/or start typing, previous entries are shown below the form field? This is "form history" and it can be cleared and turned off. (Details below)
  • When you submit the form and return to it, the previous data is redisplayed? Most likely Firefox cached the page because the server did not instruct Firefox not to do so. As a temporary workaround, use Ctrl+Shift+r to reload the page fresh from the server. I'm not sure if there is any setting to prevent this kind of caching.

To remove existing form history:

You can use the "Clear Recent History" command on the History menu to flush all form history (this also clears search bar history). Expand the Details panel and make sure that ONLY Form & Search history is selected. Then at the top, choose "Everything" as the time range, and click Clear Now.

To remove form history selectively, you can use this extension: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/form-history-control/

To turn off Firefox's form and search history feature going forward:

Open the Options page:

"3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Options

In the left column, click Privacy.

On the right side, if the selector is set to "Firefox will: Remember history", change that to "Firefox will: Use custom settings for history".

Uncheck the box for "Remember search and form history" to stop Firefox from storing new form and search history, then you can close the page.

Also, your Firefox identified itself to the forum as version 43. An update is available: this article describes how to get Firefox 47.0.1 using the "About Firefox" dialog on the help menu: Update Firefox to the latest release.

If something is holding you back from upgrading to Firefox 47, please let us know so we can suggest solutions or workarounds. Version 43 is not secure; Mozilla discloses security flaws after each new release.

Sometimes Firefox reports the wrong version because that information was saved in a preferences file. If the "About Firefox" dialog (see first article link) shows Firefox 47.0.1, you may need to clear out that incorrect information. See: How to reset the default user agent on Firefox.
