I am getting upgrade notices also weekly, what is going on?

As stated in the question,I have gotten to the point of wondering what has happened to Firefox. There are way too many upgrades to past couple of months - this does not give me confidence in Firefox.

There is a major version update every 6 weeks (except that Firefox 39 was delayed) and in between there may be updates to address especially critical performance or security issues.

In recent months, you can see that it often pays to wait a few days after a major release before updating, in case it causes widespread crashes that were missed during beta testing, so you can jump straight to the crash fix release. But the later updates usually are because new security issues came to light that could not wait.
