Despite setting the delete emails after 30 days in Local Folders - Disk Space it's not deleting them
Hi,
I want to delete the amount of emails the Thunderbird stores on my local computer.
I do not want the email on the server deleted.
I went to settings, local folders, disk space and chose the option for Delete messages more than 30 days old.
I made the change and ran compact.
It's not deleting the emails at all.
Why not ?
Again, I do not want to delete the emails anywhere else (on the server), so making the change under the folder or my account is not it.
Anyone able to point me to where the problem is and why the emails are not being deleted from my local disk ?
Mike

I've just performed a test.
I had old unwanted mail in Local Folders. I selected a few to keep - set the Star
In Account Settings, Local Folders, Disc Space, I selected same as you. Then I exited Thunderbird - wait a short while and restarted. All older emails were removed except for the starred ones. I then needed to compact in order to remove old traces of marked as deleted emails.
So it worked when I exited and restarted Thunderbird.
Further test: Located a load of email I had already put into an accounts 'TRash' folder. Copied 66 of them and put into a folder called 'TEST' in 'Local Folders' 4 of those emails were older than 30 days.
I noticed the 'TEST' folder said it now had 62 emails. So I checked the 'Activity Manager' and sure enough, it said move 66 to TEST and then said Deleted 4 from TEST. This time I did not Exit Thunderbird.
I exited the first time to endure the alterations in Account Settings 'Disc Space' had been properly updated to files and was from then onwards properly operational.
