I get messages sent to my e-mail from groups.io.

In groups.io the messages are in english, I have also seen the same messages received on Outlook and the test is in English from a UKJ source so no need to be in Chinese, but when the e-mails are sent to my Thunderbird client they are in Chinese.

It also affects e-mails from PayPal and eBay as well.

How do I change this?

Some incoming emails (eg from theatres) contain images - suddenly these images have stopped appearing. How can I get back to them appearing? This has only just started happening, and as far as I know I haven't changed any settings. Steve

Following a Windows update last week, Thunderbird says to complete an update, a Reboot is required but the reboot achieves nothing and the same dialog box message appears.

I logged into my email account and almost 3 months of my most recent emails had disappeared. I don't know what happened. They were there the last time I checked my email about 5-10 minutes earlier. I've looked in other folders but they aren't there either. Aso tried repairing the folder with no success. Is there a way to recover these emails? I've been trouble shooting / googling this all afternoon and kept seeing reference to a recovery tool. Is this something already on Thunderbird or software I need to purchase? I really want to know if there is a way to recover the lost emails and how to do it. Thanks.

A disaster happened, but first, let me say that I had to create a new Thunderbird Profile because Thunderbird was acting really strange and also making my e-mails fail DKIM for some reason. After creating the new profile, things were working better, but still some problems. It's been several days. Twice it marked my own e-mails as Junk, and both times I marked them as Not Junk, but that didn't seem to "take".

An e-mail in my Drafts folder is my "in case of death" e-mail. I was editing it to change the To addresses, then told it to save as Draft. That immediate Draft went straight to the Junk folder. WTF? So I go to the Junk folder, select it, right click, and "Mark as Not Junk".

Instead of going to the Drafts folder, Thunderbird sent it. Not only that, the old Draft of the e-mail was sent also!

I'm royally pissed off! How could Thunderbird do something so stupid? First classify my own saved Draft as Junk after my having marked my own e-mails twice before as Not Junk, then send it when I said it was not Junk? This is stupid.

Needless to say, I had to hurriedly sent a retraction e-mail, then made phone calls.

Something is really wrong with Thunderbird Junk processing. After creating the new profile, I've seen junk e-mails sit in my Inbox for 15 minutes before suddenly Thunderbird decides that they are junk.

Thunderbird WAS a good program, but after having to start over with a new Profile, setting up my e-mail addresses again, install add-ins, go through all the settings again, import my e-mails, addresses, and calendars, then have things still going wrong, I'm wondering why I'm still using Thunderbird.

I am really really distraught right now. It took me two weeks to get the time and focus to write a long reply to a company's nice email to me. Stayed up till 2am to write it. Deliberately wanted to re-read it in the morning before sending. Gone. Nowhere to be found. I pressed "Save to draft" before closing my laptop. But not saved. This account actually has a "draft" folder, unlike most of my other accounts in Thunderbird, which I also cannot figure out and no one has helped me with.

I recently switched to Thunderbird from MS Office10 Outlook. Formerly, once I downloaded an email it was stored on my hard drive until I erased it. I could delete the email from the Earthlink account online, and still have it stored, thus staying under the 100mb storage limit in Earthlink. With Thunderbird, when I delete an email on line it disappears from Thunderbird.

How do I get Thunderbird to save my emails to my hard drive, so that I can delete them from my Earthlink account?

I have used Thunderbird since vs 2.0. I currently have 7 active email accounts, but have had up to 12 on my Windows platform running with no problems. Installed: Thunderbird vs 140.3.1esr Windows 10

I have recently had problems with the password entry for three of the accounts which use verizon.net, managed by AOL.

When sending a message on that email system, I often have to enter the outgoing server password manually. I have changed password on all three verizon.net email accounts, and for a few days email sends worked fine. But now, I am back to having to enter the password in the pop-up box when sending mail.

Any reason why this problem occurs after the system has operated fine for months/years. I don't see this problem with my other accounts using different mail servers.

I try to send email from an address I used to and I have this message :"Username and email address belong to two different users.". I don't understand why ?

Is it possible to open incoming mails in the same window as the list of e-mails, just like in Google? I get distracted from seeing suddenly my e-mail in another window/tab.

Thunderbird : 141.0 (64-bit)

So, I've no idea why, but my Today Pane is now only displaying a single event per day (see image).

For example, Monday 20th October has multiple events, but these don't show.

Is there a fix for this?

Hi, I'm trying to set up a gmail mail account in Thunderbird on a Mac. The email address is active on Gmail. On Thunderbird I click for a new account. I type in my name and mail address and get an auto configuration. Then I get a window to sign in to continue to Mozilla Thunderbird Email. I enter the new email address. Instead of getting a password request, I get a Google message saying wrongly configured request.

So I thought maybe I should create a new Mozilla account with this email address, and I got a message saying something went wrong.

I've tried several times. What's the secret.

Hello, I hope I'm in the right subforum. I have the following problem.

In my system settings, Opera is set as the default browser, using the command "opera %U --lang=de."

Unfortunately (despite the system-wide setting), when I want to open an https link, Thunderbird still asks me which application I want to use. Unfortunately, as is usually the case, I can't select one from the application menu (where the corresponding command is stored in Opera). Instead, I have to search for and specify the application in the /usr/bin folder. This logically opens the link with the "opera" command and not with the "--lang=de" option. However, Thunderbird doesn't accept a desktop file under "Open with...", where you could add the option.

I've now created a shell file with the following content:

1. ! /bin/bash

opera %U --lang=de

This opens the browser as desired when I click the link, but only with the home page; the link isn't passed.

My question is, how would the command in the shell file need to be changed to open the link, or is there any way to get Thunderbird to open links with the command "opera %U --lang=de"?

My questions are:

i was about to add another account to TB and checked for cves first and saw this:  CVE-2025-11715. 

Ubunut 22.04 is affected by it but there is no way to update my installed version to a stable release in the software centre.s my current 140.3.1esr snap download of thunderbird on ubuntu software centre unsafe and should i remove account and uninstall it immediately?

Is there a safer snap version to use? I see 140.4.oesr-1 is available in the drop down menu on the mozilla thunderbird snap page in software centre but its only latest/candidate which i think means not yet stable? Is this a safe choice?

Clicking on the 140.4. version from snap doesnt update but requires a new install. Is the best idea to go ahead and install this 140.4 candidate version rather than continuing with 140.3.1? Should i just hold off using thunderbird until my installation recieves an update? I do really need to use it so this is a last resort.

i have autism and stuggle with processing information and worry about installing the wrong thing. i thought the ubuntu snapstore as verified by canonical would be stable and secure. I am nervous of downloading from browser in case i download a fake site or mess it up installing and I dont know how I would be sure I had an authentic version. Im not great at using the terminal and knowing if ive input correctly either. It seems that apt would just fetch snap version anyway. if downloading from site was the best way to procees, do i need to uninstall snap first and how can I check its not a corrupted file?

Please can I get help on the best way to proceed to use a version of thunderbird that is definitly safe to use and add accounts to?

Also could my passwords and emails already be compromised by using 140.3.1esr and should i stop using it immediately? would an update be enough to remove the threats?

Thunder bird won't allow any emails it tells me it can't find my password and asks for a new password Ii do this and the same message happens again,I have turned off my cookies but nothing has happened . Please help in this. Richard Starrett
