synced passwords and logins autofill on Android 11
I'm using Firefox 93 on Macbook air and Firefox 93.2 on Android 11 (Samsung S10). I’ve synced all passwords and logins and can view them on both devices. ‘Autofill in Firefox’ and ‘Autofill in other apps’ are both on. But, when logging in to apps on the Samsung, autofill doesn’t work. Even if I fill in my email address, there is no password suggestion. Instead, a small dropdown message appears: ‘unlock Firefox’. It isn’t active, and doesn’t open anything when I tap on it. Result: I have to go looking for the passwords and fill them in manually. I hope there’s a solution. Thanks for your help

Assuming you have Syncced your user credentials to another copy of Firefox, yes - you can uninstall Firefox Lockwise.
The password manager in Firefox for Android will use the device password you have set on your Android device - something that is good to have in place.

Hi
Is "Autofill in other apps" selected in the Firefox for Android password settings?
Thanks for your reply.
Yes, "Autofill in other apps" is selected in the Firefox for Android password settings on the phone.
In the password settings I can choose the autofill for Firefox or for Lockwise. If I choose Firefox, autofill doesn't work on the app I use (BBC) but does work on websites. If I choose Lockwise, autofill works on the BBC app, and on websites.
On 3 recently installed apps (all 3 electric car charging apps), Lockwise works fine on one.
On another it fills in the password in the username space.
On the third it doesn't appear at all, it's as if it didn't exist. On this particular app, when I fill in the PW manually the phone automatically directs to Fingerprints (which I haven't activated). Could there be some interference from a phone setting?
Could it be the apps that are causing the dysfunction?
Hi
If you open the Android Settings app (typically a cogwheel icon) select System and Languages and input, you should see an option for Auto-fill service.
Which app do you have selected? Does the behaviour you are seeing change if you select Firefox?
For Seburo...there is no "cog wheel" ....desktop has three bars, mobile has three dots. Everything is under those menus.
Now, I've got the same problem. Firefox refuses to pick up the app's login prompts, instead sometimes just flashes the "Unlock Firefox" prompt in a box below the password, other times just doesn't offer any suggestions and just does nothing. Zip Nada. As for the "Unlock FireFox"...what? Selecting it, as kL mentioned, does nothing.
Running the most current version of FF on Android with the password manager baked in to the code. Never had the separate LockWise app installed and the only app selected to provide passwords is Firefox. Google is in the list but is NOT selected and doesn't offer anyway. The web page entry to a site works just fine in mobile and desktop.
I'm suspecting an external app problem, not FF, but could be wrong. All of the info I've found refers to desktop and is useless for mobile, such as...
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/usernames-and-passwords-are-not-saved
Mostly useless. Guess I'll have to load up BitWarden and see if that behaves......
Earth to Mozilla.....are you there Mozilla? No answers. No help. Things you said should work don't as far as "Autofill for other apps" is concerned.
Since my last message Lockwise autofill has been working fine for all apps (except one).
But now since Lockwise is no longer supported, autofill by Firefox on apps on the phone doesn’t work.
For info, on my phone, Firefox ‘Autofill service’ is selected in ‘settings’ and ‘Autofill in other apps’ is selected in Firefox. Logins & passwords have been synced between laptop and phone. Autofill works fine on websites on my phone.
When logging in to apps I get the same problem as JB mentioned: either ‘Unlock Firefox’ flashes but nothing then happens, or else just plain nothing happens (even ‘Unlock Firefox’ doesn't flash).
I haven’t tested on the apps where I’ve remained logged in …
Should I uninstall Lockwise? The info page on Lockwise/Firefox doesn’t suggest it.
Any suggestions? thanks
As mentioned in my previous post, you will need to open the Android Settings app and possibly adjust an option there.
Seburo doesn't know the answer to this one.
Mozilla forces you to have a Password, PIN, or Pattern set up on your Android device to log in to the device before the app autofill works. Only took me a month to figure this out on my own...
Thanks for that info. (I didn't find anything explicit to that effect on the Mozilla website.)
Conclusion: I need to set a master password for the laptop and a separate one for Android. Correct?
What does one do with Lockwise? uninstall it?
Thanks to both for help.
