I am on windows 10 and I downloaded the latest version of thunderbird. I cannot add an aol uk email account on thunderbird. here are the settings I enter (image)

I thought it was an issue on windows. But I tried thunderbird on my mac as well and I encounter the same issue.

Could anyone help.

Try it with the authentication set to OAuth2. There's a bug where you can't select OAuth in the drop-down in your picture, but if you click Advanced config., OAuth can be selected in the Server Settings section. Do the same for the Outgoing Server (SMTP) authentication at the bottom of the left pane of Account Settitngs.
