Since Thunderbird update to Snap ``` 140.12.1esr (64-Bit) Mozilla Thunderbird Snap for Ubuntu ubuntu-snap-build - 1.0 ``` opening attachments ceased to work. What does NOT work (any more):

• Move mouse over attachment → right mouse → open (nothing happens)
• Move mouse over attachment → right mouse → open with (doesn't exist)
• Move mouse over attachment → doubleclick (nothing happens)
• Settings → Attachments → There is an empty box, and in the void beneath it, floating in empty space the text (backtranslated from DE): "Add a Filelink-memory service" or "Filelink-save service" or similar. The text is dead (not clickable), same for the empty box.

AFAIR, in the good old non-snap TB version, the box had file extensions and linked applications to open them. The box / links / extensions coud be added, edited, removed. But in snap crap it's all dead...

Any hints what I am missing?

I used to open attachments from received mails (like .diff, .patch), and also used it for final inspection of own attachments while composing mails.

TalkTalk have outsourced their email to Everymail. We use Thunderbird as our e, Mail client on a pc. We have stopped getting email and can’t send any for a week now. Do I need to reset the server names suddenly.

I use Thunderbird v 140.12.1esr to manage email on my email account frankn413@yahoo.co.uk. For the past 2 days sent emails fail with error message "sending of the message failed. The message could not be sent because connecting to outgoing server SMTP.mail.yahoo.com failed. The server may be unavailable or is refusing SMTP connections. I have not changed my smtp settings - they are Server = smtp.mail.yahoo.com; Port = 465; user name = frankn413@yahoo.co.uk; Authentication method = OAuth2; Conneciton Security = SSL/TLS

Hi My desktop computer was stolen in 2019. Somehow I managed to get my emails and archived emails back on a new computer via a computer repair shop which build me a new better comp. Then 2 years ago my computer crashed and I can't get Mozilla Thunderbird back but need my archived emails etc. In the meantime I received my emails directly from Vox. How can I set up my old Thunderbird account again without loss of any archived emails. PS: I don't have the old password anymore either. Thanks in advance

A substantial portion of email spam that I receive has a couple of characteristics: - the subject line includes "Sonic", and - the sender is plainly not Sonic.

I am wondering if it is possible to construct a filter that says basically: If Subject includes Sonic AND From does not include Sonic Then Send to Trash (or mark as spam or whatever)

Can this be done?

If Thunderbird startup is stopped before tabs are loaded, they are lost. The tab fields at the top of the screen remain but they are empty. Evidently, tabs are stored only in a temporary location. This is a very annoying bug. Is there a way to recover them?

I'm looking to customize the colour of the message header row (the part highlighted in red; with a black background as shown in the screenshot) to #202020, to match the rest of the elements of the view. While I've successfully managed to customize other elements (code below), I need help with identifying what to specify for the message header row.

PLEASE BE PATIENT WITH ME. I am elderly, and am struggling greatly. Within the last week, I can’t send emails from my Mozilla account. I have a BT email address ie btinternet.com. When sending, it comes up with Login to server mail.btinternet.com wth username (my email address) failed. This is followed by Unable to authenticate to outgoing server (SMTP) Please check the password and verify the authentication method in account settings / outgoing server SMTP.

I was on the phone to BT for three hours yesterday and they were so lovely and patient, they set me up wth a BT email app, however all of my folders with my vital bits and bobs are on Mozilla. Please could someone help me

Hello. I regularly sign up for online conferences, then when I get the confirmation email with the details I can't transfer it to the calendar. I even tried saving the ical event separately but when I try opening it using Thunderbird I get an error message. The only way I found is to transfer the contents manually and create an event on calendar, which is time consuming. Anyone knows how to fix this? Thank you in advance

I've asked this question before, but have gotten no response. Maybe I'm not explaining it clearly enough. I will try again. When I name a new file folder, how do I get it in the correct alphabetical order? I end up making it a subfolder in under another incorrect folder or it does not get in correct alphabetical order. I hope this is clearer to understand. I just don't know how to make it any plainer. Thank you for your kind response.

I've used Thunderbird for years. computer crashed and I'm trying to install Thunderbird on my new PC. Thunderbird cannot find account. I've checked with my provider several times and all settings are correct. Any ideas? I've also downloaded installed and uninstalled 5 times today with the same result.

In sending a new email, when I go to enter the "TO," various email choices pop-up - but not all are correct. How can I add and/or correct those popup choices?

very recently perhaps with a McAfee or Thunderbird update , I am seeing a message that McAfee stops a threat every time thunderbird does a message retrieval. see attachments. I have checked my outlook account directly and deleted a bunch of messages but it persists.

My wife has a computer that hasn't been used for about 7 years and it contains a lot of emails that she would like to have on her newer computer.

The older computer has an older version of Thunderbird which doesn't allow the Importexport ng extension to be added.

Although I've copied her old profile, I can't see how to extract the emails from it into the newer version of Thunderbird on the newer computer. Is it possible and if so, how please.

Cannot send email on Thunderbird suddenly. This happened after Thunderbird update on 7/16/26 or 7/17/2026. Also could not receive email on Thunderbird for two days after the update but that issue suddenly resolved itself after 2 days . Have tried to change the port but that has not helped. I use rcn.com We could not send or receive there either when I went on the server. Now rcn is working again on the server but cannot send using Thunderbird account.

I find now that Thunderbird requires Earthlink's password each time an email is sent. Earlier it required it once a day. I am on Windows 11 using Earthlink.net for provider.
