Hello,

Try Firefox Safe Mode to see if the problem goes away. Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most add-ons.

(If you're not using it, switch to the Default theme.)

  • You can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the Shift key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
  • Or open the Help menu and click on the Restart with Add-ons Disabled... menu item while Firefox is running.

Once you get the pop-up, just select "'Start in Safe Mode"

If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. Please follow the Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems article for that.

To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.

Thank you.

Why do you have the browser.sessionstore.max_resumed_crashes pref set to the rather high value of 100?

It is usually best not to set this pref to higher values as this prevents to about:sessionrestore page that allows to select which pages to restore to get displayed (i.e you won't be able to exclude a possibly problematic web page when Firefox keeps crashing).

Also note that your System Details List shows that you have a user.js file in the profile folder to initialize some prefs on each start of Firefox.

The user.js file is only present if you or other software has created it, so normally it wouldn't be there. You may want to check its content with a plain text editor if you didn't create this file yourself.

The user.js file is read each time you start Firefox and initializes preferences to the value specified in this file, so involved preferences can only be changed temporarily for the current session.

browser.sessionstore.max_resumed_crashes pref - how do I set that? I can't find it.

user.js file - what should I be looking for there?

Cor-el's last link shows info about seeing/removing the user.js file. The first pref may be in the user.js file so you would have to see about that.

So just remove that file?

See if that pref and some other unwanted prefs are in there, using Notepad. If in doubt, just delete it, unless you created it yourself.

Do you still get the "pictures.dax" error or did Safe Mode help to identify the problem?

What pref or remove the entire user.js?

When in doubt just delete it, unless you created it manually.

Gadzooks! I really need some more omega3!!

This is a Deep Exploration error not an FF error.

Note that is you delete the user.js file then you still have the modified prefs stored in prefs.js, so it is best to remove the prefs (prefs.js) file(s) as well.

Can you post the content of the user.js file?
