The status bar has been replaced by the add-ons bar. What you are seeing is not the status bar or add-ons bar, it is the mouse-over link that displays in a tooltip style box.

The Status-4-Evar add-on can make the URL hover appear in the add-ons bar, this will be similar to the status bar in previous versions of Firefox - https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/status-4-evar/
