- What version of Thunderbird?
- Is this an IMAP account or POP3?
The first thing to do is verify your server settings. Here my working Comcast IMAP settings. How do they compare with yours?:
IMAP (Incoming): Incoming Server Type: IMAP Mail Server Incoming Server Name: imap.comcast.net Port: 993 User Name: <my email address> Connection Security: SSL/TLS Authentication method: OAuth2
SMTP (Outgoing): SMTP Server Name: smtp.comcast.net Port: 465 Connection Security: SSL/TLS Authentication method: OAuth2 User Name: <my email address>
These are what Comcast recommends on their help page (https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/email-client-programs-with-xfinity-email) EXCEPT that they don't mention what Authentication method to use. They seem to have introduced OAuth2 sometime in the past year or two but didn't bother to tell anyone. It works for me. The older, less secure Normal Password method may still work.
For OAuth2 to authorize successfully, you must have Thunderbird set to accept cookies (see <Settings | privacy & Security | Web Content | Accept cookies from sites>).
