Changed password on email account not working in Thunderbird
I changed my password in my Juno account and have logged in via a browser with the new password several time. But Thunderbird attempts to connect continue to fail. I deleted the old password in Thunderbird in the Privacy & Security section thinking it would update when the new password works - unfortunately, it never works. I reviewed all the Juno settings in Thunderbird and they are all consistent with the Juno Support recommendations. Now what?

Try this: - go to privacy&security and DELETE the rows affiliated with the Juno account. then shut down and restart thunderbird and see if tne new password is accepted.
I already did that. so, I reconfirmed that the password was not present then closed Thunderbird and rebooted my MacBook Air. No change - TB still won't accept the new password and connect with my Juno account.
I am at a loss. Changing passwords is always problem-prone. Maybe someone else has ideas.
The only thing I can think to do is delete the account from TB then add it back in. If I do that what happens to all the mail/folders that are under that account. Plus - i need to change my password on my primary Juno account that is also in TB. I want to resolve the issue with the first account (an alternate I use as second options for recovery on some accounts).
Is anyone out there? Why doesn't TB have an actual support process? I really like this desktop application for many reasons so I don't want to be forced to change - especially since I have several years of email history saved.

What are your settings for the account, particularly but not only, the authentication method chosen.
I really have no experience with the apple ecosystem where things are done the apple way rather than the standards way, but I really do not think that will be an issue here as the apple way appears to be more in redefining what is an image (HEIC anyone) and typography. They really do not play well with others
Note that is you have an anti virus installed and your account type is POP then it is entirely possible the issue is the antivirus. Especially if it starts to tell you getting X of XX emails and then does nothing or downloads the same few each time you try, but not all.
One person who had similar issues changed the authentication method to normal. I did that for both incoming and outgoing servers. Then tried restarting TB and rebooting my Mac. It didn't seem to work yesterday but when I opened the system today to check email - messages from the problematic address were now present. BUT... the email address and password were not shown in Saved Logins screen.. Hmmmm. Guess I will have to wait to see if the period check for messages processes ok or is again 'failed' with associated request for password. Will update in a day or so. Thank you all for your ideas and suggestions.
Generally if folk change their connection authentication to normal from oauth they are begging for future issues. There is a reason it was being used in the first place. Especially with the likes of Microsoft, Yahoo and Google who are in the process of only allowing that and nothing else.
Although by the looks of the Juno page, nothing much has changed there in decades. https://help.juno.com/support/webmail/wm-email-setup.html with them mentioning mostly obsolete supported mail clients.
So a normal password would be correct based on their support pages.
Well - I had a long message prepared to share what I went through today to finally get my alternate Juno account up & running in TB - unfortunately I used a keystroke combo that dumped it all. I will not try to regenerate it. Basically, nothing works correctly unless both incoming & outgoing auth = normal. Can't send or receive. Somewhere in everything I did, the saved logins now show two lines for this account and the passwords are there. 1 - Why is it only working with 'normal'? I have tried encrypted in either location and both but connection fails in all configurations except both = normal. 2 - why did it take so long for the saved logins for this account to finally be added. I am going to send a query to Juno to see if they have any insights before I take steps to change the password in Juno B (my primary email) also because of data breach resolution recommendations. . I shudder to think aboui going through all this for that account.
Not sure I shared this but saw some comments relative to the topics in other Juno related conversations.
- I do not have antivirus software in use. I do have some malware applications but they are not automatic.
- I am using a MacBook Air (2020) with Sequoia 15.7.9. The firewall is active and set to automatically allow downloaded signed software to receive incoming connections. Checking the connections in TB always results in 'successfully established a secure connection to pop.juno.com'.
