Thunderbird keeps crashing every 2 minutes
Today - 26/01/2026 - Thunderbird keeps crashing for no reason. I receive a dialogue box to either quit or start Thunderbird again and to add to a crash report. I have been doing this all morning - no response. I have gone onto Mozilla Google search to see if there is a problem - nothing. I have shut down and re-started the computer - nothing happens. Please can you respond and maybe give me a customer service 'live' person who can talk me through this. I have used Thunderbird for over 15 years, but this is defeating me. I am in my late 70's and cannot cope with the way your Community site works. Thank you for your help. Hope to hear from you soonest.

There is no 'customer service tel number'. There is no office with people on phones. It's free product and monies all go into providing it. This is the Support Forum, so you have come to the right place.
You need to provide the crash report id. If you selected to 'add a crash report' it may have auto gone through, but I need to find it. You will not get any response from thunderbird developers.
So when you start Thunderbird the first thing you need to do is find that crash ID.
Look in Thunderbird
- Help > Troubleshooting Information
- Scroll down to 'Crash Reports for the last 3 days' section
- There should be a Crash report ID which just looks like a bunch of letters and numbers and should start with a bp.
- Just copy that crash ID and paste it into this forum.
If there is nothing then check the following is selected.
- Settings > Privacy & Security
- scroll down to Thunderbird Data Collection and Use
- Select 'Allow Thunderbird to send backlogged crash reports on your behalf.
Crash record number is https://crash-stats.mozilla.org/report/index/054ed7ba-0c12-4e2f-8956-749c80260127. I have sent a lot of crash reports. I think I should probably uninstall the programme and re-install the latest version, although my programme is up-to-date. Please can you send instructions on how to do this. Some sites tell you just to uninstall and then re-install. Others tell you to follow-up on a further step to give a clean uninstall. Please confirm exactly what I should do. Many thanks
This is apparently fixed in 147.0.1, which should be available this week.
