I've been using Thunderbird 140 esr on Windows 10. I got a new computer with Windows 11 and decided to go to the Release channel for Thunderbird which is at version 142. When I try to set up my ATT/Yahoo account, it fails "Unable to log in at server. Probably wrong configuration, username or password." If I go to the manual setup, the authentication method I used for TB 140 on Win 10, OAuth2, isn't one of the options. How do I get that option back? I tried unticking the Create Accounts in the new Account Hub, but that didn't help. I also tried uninstalling 142 and installing 140 esr on my Win 11 box. It has the same problem: No OAuth2 option.

Wubrane rozrisanje

Never mind. I found the answer: I need to generate a "Secure mail key" on AT&T's website and use that as the password when setting up the account.

oauth is in the process of being set up for ATT/yahoo. It is a kludge to make up for ATT's ongoing failure to understand they have obligations they have not fulfilled, but oauth will be available soon.
