Hi,

I recently installed Thunderbird on a news Windows 11 computer. While setting up the account, I made the mistake of changing my gmail account from imap to pop3. After changing the settings in my account to allow this change, Thunderbird started downloading thousands of old emails. When I realized my mistake, there was nothing I could do to stop emails from downloading. Even after disabling pop3 in my account, the emails continued to download. Unfortunately, I haven't got the time or patience to delete thousands of emails one at a time. I tried uninstalling Thunderbird and reinstalling using IMAP instead of POP3. No luck. The emails continued to download.

Is there anything that can be done to stop this?

I thought I had deleted it before when I uninstalled Thunderbird and then tried a reinstall. Tried it again and it worked. Go figure.

well, it's a rash move, but you can exit thunderbird, click %appdata% on desktop searchbox which should take you to appdata folder and from there you could delete the thunderbird folder and then start over with a fresh install.
