I have an e-mail account with compuserve now run by AOL. It is pop and uses normal password authentication. As of this morning I can no longer retrieve messages from the server. The system tries and then seems to time out. I can see the messages by using my web-mail with Firefox. What sort of thing has gone wrong? Settings are pop.aol.com port 995 SSL/TLS normal password. The last time it asked me for a password but using my normal one did not improve things. I got a message "Sending of password for user philip_ebert@compuserve.com did not succeed. Mail server pop.aol.com responded: [SYS/TEMP] Server error - Please try again later."

I changed the server setting connection security to "None" instead of SSL/TLS and "Password, transmitted insecurely" and it worked. They must have broken something with the encrypted connection. Not an ideal solution, but my mail was retrieved. Going to experiment with other password encryption settings under "Authentication method" and see if any of those work.

Change the authentication method on the incoming and outgoing servers to OAuth2, check that cookies are accepted in Options/Privacy & Security, remove the passwords from Saved Passwords in Privacy & Security, restart TB, enter the account password in the OAuth window when prompted.
