Thunderbird opens links in Chrome but not Firefox

I've been through the help pages on links not opening, right into the config editor, but I still find that (since 24 Dec 2017) I cannot open links in Firefox by clicking on them. When I set the default browser to Chrome everything works just fine (except that I keep all my passwords in Firefox). When I set the default back to Firefox and click on a link Thunderbird ceases to be the main window but nothing starts up. This problem is very new.

That didn't help, but when the update to 52.5.2 just came in that did. Possibly it just reset Thunderbird a bit, but anyway it's sorted. Thanks.

That didn't help, but when the update to 52.5.2 just came in that did. Possibly it just reset Thunderbird a bit, but anyway it's sorted. Thanks.
